Weiss & Morales
WEISS & MORALES
PRIME TIME SERIES - Crime / Drama
4 x 85’
Nina Weiss, a BKA agent, is visiting her German mother living in the Canary Islands. She arrives unexpectedly on the islands, looking for answers about her past. When the body of a German citizen is found, Nina will be involved in the investigation. She will do it together with Raul Morales, sergeant of the Civil Guard in charge of the case. A collaboration that does not start off on the right foot and that, at first, will confront them. But even though their personalities and investigation methods are opposite, they will have to coexist and work as a team.
Weiss is a meticulous observer, her strength lies in finding clues in details, sometimes unnoticed. Morales, on the other hand, is a soul expert, analyzing human behavior to find clues that give suspects away. She is distant and professional, in contrast with Raúl's more social and intuitive nature, who leads his team in a close way.
Despite their discrepancies, or because they are complementary, the two excellent inspectors manage to solve the case. And, perhaps, they will soon find themselves investigating new cases of the German community in the islands.
CHARACTERS:
Raúl Morales is a sergeant of the Judicial Police of the Civil Guard in Las Palmas. Passionate about his work, he is a great investigator. His deep knowledge of the human condition gives him an exceptional ability to conduct interrogations. He is able to instill confidence and put himself in the suspects' shoes, understanding their motivations. But the trait that stands out most in him is his great humanism and appreciation for the people around him. He leads his team with closeness, which has become almost his second family; he trusts them completely and lets them do their job.
Personally, Morales is a modern man. As a family man, he has taken on the organization of the household so that his wife, Sara, a successful businesswoman, can follow her professional dreams. He enjoys taking care of his daughter Vivi, now a young teenager, with whom he shares hobbies and enjoys a very close relationship. Flexible and friendly, after half a life in Las Palmas, the character of the islands has rubbed off on him.

Nina Weiss is a BKA inspector (German Federal Criminal Investigation Office). In a male-dominated environment, earning respect has been no easy task. Perhaps that's why Nina values her independence above all else. With determination, a strong character and unwavering self-confidence, she has quickly positioned herself as one of the best agents in the force.
She arrives in Las Palmas to visit her mother, but soon finds herself immersed in a case linked to the German community, collaborating with Sergeant Raul Morales. Thorough and methodical, Nina has a keen eye for detail, capable of finding evidence where no one else sees it. However, her visit is not just professional. She has come to confront her mother about a secret from her past. But Nina also holds her own surprises: she's not the typical German Raul expects. In fact, she's much more of a Canarian than she appears.

Margarethe is Nina's mother. Optimistic and carefree by nature, she has spent more than half her life in the Canary Islands. Although it has been a long time since she left her commune years behind, she is still a hippie in spirit. She has a small house with an orchard in the valley of Agaete and makes a living doing a bit of everything.
Markus von Günten is the German consul in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He sees the islands as a paradisiacal destination, which he intends to enjoy as much as possible. For some time, he has had a relationship with Margarethe, very different from what he is used to. And that's precisely why he likes her so much: her bohemian lifestyle and her desire to enjoy life to the fullest.
Sara is Raul's wife, she has worked very hard to run her own communication agency, today one of the best in the islands. She has done it thanks to Raúl's constant support at home. As well as the economic support and contacts of her father Gustavo. Now that Vivi has entered adolescence, she feels that she is being left out of her life and questions her choice and her role in the family.
Gustavo is Raul's father-in-law. Linked to the construction industry since the seventies, he amassed a large fortune and has an extensive network of contacts. He is now president of the Chamber of Commerce. Gustavo loves his family, and would do anything for his daughter and granddaughter. However, no matter how much time passes, he will never assume Raul as part of them. He still thinks his daughter deserves better.
A unique series
“Weiss & Morales” is a co-production that organically integrates the elements of a large international collaboration.
It is a series that explores both the human and everyday aspects of cops and why ordinary people can commit crimes. A modern buddy movie that introduces us to contemporary characters. Raul is a man with a modern masculinity, a committed father who carries the weight of the domestic organization. Nina, on the other hand, is a highly competitive and independent woman, focused on her career and personal life.
The Canary Islands are much more than a backdrop; their international culture and diversity make them a character in the series. From its exuberant and exotic nature to its architecture that blends the brutalist and the colonial, the islands provide a luminous and unique atmosphere. The investigations span a variety of settings, combining industrial, technological and renewable energy environments with new age wellness retreats and communities of digital nomads.
