Today, an autopsy is being performed on the victim, a 26-year-old woman who had just given birth -by caesarean section- to her third daughter. She was being transferred between floors when the lift trapped her after beginning to move inexplicably. The guard who was accompanying her could do nothing to prevent her death.
Judicial Police and the Government have opened an investigation to determine what happened.
The lift had passed all inspections... its last revision coming only a number of days ago, on 12 August.
The family is receiving psychological help to deal with the tragedy. The family has already announced that it will lodge a complaint against the hospital for what happened.
The deceased woman lived in the Sevillian town of Dos Hermanas. Her newborn daughter remains in the Virgin del Rocío Hospital, as she was born with a heart defect. The victim had two other girls, a 4-year-old and a 5-year-old.
