On July 25, 1797, the city defeated Admiral Nelson¿s troops. In this battle in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the British officer lost his arm.

This July, Santa Cruz de Tenerife will celebrate the commemoration of the Battle of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (¿Recreation Gesta July 25¿) with more intensely than in previous years. One of the municipality¿s most relevant historical events, with its own foundation, will not turn 220 years old in vain. The program was presented in the morning by the city¿s mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, who appreciates the significance of the fact that "the youngest generations know what happened then in Santa Cruz and are able to pass on the knowledge"
