The Extremaduran Health Service hasn't discovered yet the cause of an outbreak of hepatitis C in November
The health minister for the regional government acknowledged in parliament that they may not discover why five patients were infected whilst being treated in the haemodialysis unit at San Pedro de Alcántara, Cáceres.

The five patients were informed quickly, health minister José María Vergeles assured, and they received drug treatment against Hepatitis C, while the rest of the patients who receive dialysis at the Caceres hospital were tested along with their families and the machines that perform the tests. The research has not yet revealed the cause of the infection, although the minister has stated that it could not be a result of the state of the apparatus and filters.
