Max Penson: A glimpse of the Russian Revolution in Córdoba's Vimcorsa Hall.

Max Penson, una mirada a la revolución rusa
GIULIA RE

Max Penson was a photographer for the `Pravda¿ newspaper whose photos portray a perspective tinged by the communist control of Uzbekistan between the years 1920 and 1940. Along with showing peasants happy in their work, Penson also highlights the incorporation of women into the workforce and large State infrastructure projects. The Russian Revolution came to this Asian country in 1924, a land that contributed a way of looking at the world that changed - among other arts - photography and cinematography.

The photographs, on display for the first time, are part of a private collection and show a reporter who was interested in naturalism, without disregarding the constructivist movement or the influence of artists such as Alexander Rochenco. Because he was Jewish and held a western perspective, Penson lived isolated, dying lonely and depressed.
