The police warn about the danger of minors using social networks
In less than ten seconds, a criminal can steal our passwords, photos of children or use a photo to find out where we live. The Police presents a School Safety Plan in Andalusia. Any primary or high schools interested will receive ten talks on cybersafety.
Keeping an eye on children while they use a mobile or tablet, or not allowing them to use social networks before they are 13-14, are basic tips we often ignore. Today the police has shown how criminals use the photos of our homes to find out where we live. And photos of children for other purposes, for example paedophiles. Selfies are the most dangerous: pouting or posing with no T-shirt. "They are very attractive photos that criminals can use to edit and to blackmail minors, for example" stresses the Police.
Be careful with fake friendship requests to children too. You must always ask a safety question, even if you think you know the person in the profile. What's our teacher's name? What exam did we have today? If the answer is immediate, you can accept. But if there is even a minor delay of a few minutes, do not accept it. They could have been checking the information on social networks", warns a Police spokesperson.
The police offer these and other tips to any primary and high schools interested. After 10 talks, the pupils will get their of cyber-expert card. A way of making them aware on the dangers of Internet.
