The G6 meeting held in Seville focuses on illegal immigration and international terrorism
The Minister of Internal Affairs, Juan Ignacio Zoido, has explained that gaining greater control over explosive precursors, as well as improving access to the data of communications and maintaining the balance between privacy and security are among the measures agreed upon today at the G6 Ministers of Internal Affairs¿ meeting.
On this occasion, the encounter of Ministers of the Interior of the six largest countries in the EU, i.e. France, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland, has taken place in Seville due to the terrorist attacks suffered this past August in Barcelona, despite it being Poland's turn to host the gathering. Additionally, the EU benefited from representation at the G6 meeting and an invitation was extended to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco.
The ministers addressed measures to control migratory flows in addition to the strengthening of measures aimed at fighting jihadist terrorism. In this latter regard, Zoido explained that the ministers have agreed to examine the existing cooperation instruments, strengthening the exchange of information and the reinforcement of measures that have already been implemented.
In this regard, Spanish Minister Zoido has specifically emphasized the need to strengthen control measures on ¿explosive precursors¿, which is precisely why the countries are committed to building a closer relationship between traders and the authorities.
He also brought up the need to maintain a balance between ¿privacy and security¿ in the access to the data of communications to prevent terrorism, as well as the promotion of public-private collaboration between the authorities and the Internet.
