`The art of perfection¿, the beauty of the `near original¿ manuscript

At the Alcázar of Seville, you can admire how it is possible to clone antique books so perfectly that it is impossible to distinguish the copy from the original. This is what Manuel Moleiro has been doing for 25 years, working on a unique publishing project. The same binding, identical inks and leathers - even reproducing the most imperceptible flaws of authentic library treasures.

"El arte de la perfección", la belleza de los "casi originales"

At times, perfection is an art. Sometimes, there is virtually no difference between the original and its copy. This is the goal of one of the most important companies in the world working in the reproduction of manuscripts. They have brought 40 of them to Seville: copies of originals that are in Paris, Moscow, and New York.

Manuel Moleiro and his team move to the country where they are commissioned to take on a project, and they can take up to several years to work on a "near-original¿ copy, even reproducing water stains, or a moth¿s bite. More than 80% of the countries in the world have purchased copied manuscripts from this company. One of the most outstanding works from this exhibition is 'The Bible of St. Louis¿. The daily newspaperThe Ti called this copied manuscript one of the most important art galleries worldwide, referring to the 4,887 paintings within its pages. It also highlights 'The Book of Felicity¿ as one of the most important illuminated manuscripts in the world. The exclusive copy presides over this exhibition, a gallery of artworks starting its journey in Seville and then moving on to Brussels, Paris and The United States.
