Malaga back to normal after the taxi driver strike called off

The Board's commitment to making a database to include all the VTC licences and to reinforce inspections has, so far, been enough to put an end to the conflict.

It was one in the morning when the taxi drivers in Malaga decided to secretly vote to call off the strike. 466 votes in favour of going back to work and 118 against it. There had been 4 days with no taxis on the streets and four assembly hours.

But nevertheless, although the taxi drivers in Malaga have gone back to work, they are still not completely happy. They are forging ahead until their next meeting with the Board of Andalusia, on 15 September.

Customers, on the other hand, have breathed a sigh of relief.

The strike lasted four full days, in peak tourism season and during the Malaga fair celebrations, with the airport and the station crammed with passengers carrying suitcases and not knowing what to do. The sector calculates that during these days earnings were one million euros down.
