A total of 24 aircraft are back to extinguishing the forest fire that was declared this Thursday afternoon in the Trujala region, in Segura de la Sierra (Jaén), just after the thermal inversion phenomenon receded, which was preventing the majority of aircraft from joining efforts during the morning hours.
The phenomenon that covered work areas with a dense layer of smoke disappeared thanks to a slight increase in the low-intensity wind that was coming from the north-west, according to emergency services.
This circumstance, which favours aircraft intervention, has also improved the firefighting strategies planned for the next few hours and, according to the Fire Services of Infoca Provincial Operative Centre (COP), operations will focus on halting the advance of the fire towards areas with the highest risk of propagation and those areas with the most available vegetation in the south-eastern region, specifically, the Río Madera Valley.
Infoca Management also indicated that the absence of wind during the early morning hours has favoured last night¿s firefighting operations. The gradual incorporation of 24 aircraft throughout the morning, six from the Ministry of Food, Agriculture, Fisheries and Environment (Mapama) and another two from the autonomous community of Castile-La Mancha, has allowed authorities to speak favourably of the evolution of the situation.
