"Sorolla. Un jardín para pintar (A garden for painting)" In the Caixaforum of Seville

The Caixa Forum of Seville is opening an exhibition created specifically for the Seville branch. The exhibit, "Sorolla. Un jardín para pintar", joins Seville¿s other cultural events for the summer holidays, uncovering one of the most unknown facets of the Valencian artist: his passion for gardens, as a place for shelter and for working. And in Andalusia, he found great inspiration.

There are over 170 oil paintings, sketches, drawings, sculptures, tiles and photographs in ¿Sorolla. Un jardín para pintar"... the exhibition on display in the Caixa Forum of Seville that reveals a little-known facet of the renowned painter. The beaches of the Mediterranean were a passion of the Valencian master, but they weren¿t the only one. The sumptuousness of the courtyards and gardens of Andalusia dominated his canvases.

In his trips to our Community, Sorolla depicted the gardens of the Royal Alcázar of Seville as well as those in the Alhambra of Granada... And in them he discovered the inspiration for his own garden in his house in Madrid, -the current Sorolla Museum-, with one of his masterpieces being that particular garden. An exhibition created specifically for Seville, "Sorolla. Un jardín para pintar" will remain open until 15 October.
