The West Indies Fleet had already been using Cádiz as a marina for 30 years when, in May 1717, Felipe V ordered the transfer, from Seville to Cádiz, of the Casa de Contratación, which controlled everything related to the merchandise and passengers coming and going from America.
Converted into a global centre for trade, Cádiz from that point on experienced a golden era of transformation in all areas, beginning with the physiognomy of the city itself.
The complete exhibition, which can be seen until September at the Regional Government Palace of Cádiz, shows the history of the event and how it affected economics, the naval industry¿with the creation of the La Carraca shipyard¿culture, social life and science.
