Debating the challenges of Climate Change in Huelva

An international symposium on climate change is beginning in Huelva, with the participation of scientists, economics, politicians, NGOs and institutions such as NASA, to discuss this global problem, with 20 sessions, 30 exhibitors and 60 speakers. Speakers include the former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and the ex Director General of Unesco, Federico Mayor Zaragoza.

The International Congress on Climate Change, SOCC Huelva 2017, organised by the Department of the Environment and Land Management of the Government of Andalusia, the Provincial Council and Huelva City Council, will take place from Wednesday to Friday in Casa Colón, Huelva, where experts will discuss the challenges of climate change.

The former Prime Minister of Spain, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, will be one of the speakers at the congress, as will the former President of Colombia, Ernesto Samper; the former Director General of Unesco, Federico Mayor Zaragoza; and the 2016 Champion of the Earth, Leyla Acaroglu.

They will join scientists, economists, politicians, institutions such as NASA, leading NGOs and participants from universities, corporations and associations in Spain, the United Kingdom, Canada, the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, and other countries, with many guests from Latin America as part of Huelva's events marking the 525th anniversary of the voyage of Columbus.

The congress will include 20 sessions, 60 speakers and 30 exhibition spaces for the event's sponsors, including Cajasol, Cepsa, Endesa, Canal Sur, and Kia. The number of participants, originally expected to be about 500 people, has since doubled, with a total of 1,000 participants now registered for the international event.
