Thanks to the new Santa Águeda electrical substation, the south of Gran Canaria will now have a more secure power supply. According to the chairman of of Red Eléctrica in Spain, José Folgado, this means that the substation is more than just a work. 54 million euros have been invested overall.

For the president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, this will not only equate to a more secure power supply, but it will allow renewable energies to be stored and will be fundamental for the Chira-Soria project. A project that Electrical Net does not consider will be started before late 2017 and that, in the words of the president of Cabildo, will be a milestone for the Canary Islands.

The hydroelectric power plant will allow renewable energies to be used at a rate of 60% and this substation is the first step in the process.
