The engraving is carved on volcanic tuff. It is a collection of ducts and small channels that experts have interpreted as a rock art map of ancient Benahore. It is said to be the first known rock art map of the Canary Islands and one of the few examples noted in worldwide prehistory.
It is located in the ancient canton of Tijarafe, which was the most populated area of the aboriginal world. It resembles a triangle with four concentric channels. Its interior features several voids attributed to geographical milestones of the island, such as the Caldera de Taburiente or the San Antonio volcano.
