New jobs in Navantia

Construction work will begin today in the Navantia shipyards in Puerto Real (Cádiz) on the electrical substation of one of the biggest offshore wind farms in the world. The substation is being developed by Iberdrola 85 kilometres from the British coast. It is valued at around  65 million euros and will weigh about 7,700 tonnes. Its construction will create full-time employment during two years for around 350 people; although the figure could rise to 600.

The Navantia shipyard in Puerto Real (Cádiz) has started cutting steel this morning for the East Anglia One offshore wind farm that the company Iberdrola plans to build in the United Kingdom. The scope of the contract includes the construction of a ‘Top Side’ module, its support structure (jacket) in the Puerto Real shipyard and "offshore" support for its commissioning in the North Sea. For Navantia, the project is expected to create 350 jobs on average, with a maximum of 600, during the next 18 months.
