Extremaduran field elections, in search of the UPA-UCE throne
APAG and ASAJA join forces to take the title from UPA-UCE, the land organisation that obtained 48% of the votes in the last chamber of agriculture elections in 2012. This Sunday they will test out their popularity in the polls against COAG and the Extremaduran Union, who this morning presented their electoral agreement with the La Vera Breeders' Association.
A total of 12,934 voters have been called to the polls - almost 15% less than in the 2002 land elections. The result will be known at around midnight on Sunday.
UPA-UCE is known as the land organisation that has called for the biggest mobilisations in Extremadura over the past 15 years. On the other hand, APAG Extremadura ASAJA stress that they are the option closest to solving problematic issues such as prices, norms or protectionist excesses.
As for COAG, they claim that they defend a major professional land model, which they now question from Madrid to Brussels. Finally, The Extremaduran Union and the La Vera Breeders' Association have published an electoral agreement today. In this way, the group will now serve as the voice of the Extremaduran Union in farming matters.
