The Las Palmas player, Sergio Araújo, has testified in court for an offence of disobedience of authority. On 26 September the player refused to take a blood alcohol level test when he was returning from spending the night in the south of Gran Canaria, in the company of a friend. The player has claimed that it was his companion who was driving and that he swapped with him because the officers forced him to.
The player has accused the Civil Guard of having forced him to drive while drunk for 20 metres. The officers deny this. The player was previously convicted in 2013 in Barcelona for driving under the influence of alcohol. The public prosecutor¿s office is demanding 11 months of prison for him.
