Court number 2 of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has accepted the provisional suspension of ceremonies honouring the tricolour flag requested by the Delegation of the Government in the Canary Islands. The Cabildo of Gran Canaria, who had had the ceremony planned for this Friday, complied and read a manifesto instead of hoisting the flag. Its president, Antonio Morales, has said that the tide can't be stemmed. The Cabildo of Tenerife also struggled to understand the prohibition. Carlos Alonso stated that it does not seem correct that it the use of a symbol that many Canarians carry close to their hearts is prosecuted and forbidden.

However, the delegate of the Government has insisted that this is not the flag of the people, but of Coalición Canaria. And therefore he believes that public institutions cannot use it for partisan use. The president of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, also gave his opinion. He believes that this is the flag that many Canarians identify with. And this has been shown by those who went out into the streets with it today.
