The death of a woman in San Juan de La Cruz Hospital in Úbeda is being investigated after she spent 12 hours in the emergency room
The San Juan de La Cruz Hospital in Úbeda, Jaén, is investigating the death of a woman after she waited for more than 12 hours in a stretcher. She was 64 years old and was of Romanian nationality. She was taken to the hospital in an ambulance from the nursing home where she lived.
The management of San Juan de La Cruz Hospital in Úbeda is investigating what happened on 21 December. Aurelia arrived in an ambulance from the nursing home in Quesada where she lived. After she was admitted to the hospital, she was left alone, in a stretcher, waiting for someone to attend to her. It was then that the medical team called her to the examination room, but she didn't come. They called her several times, according to the Health Delegate in Jaén, Teresa Vega.
Now the police are investigating whether the death of Aurelia - 64 and of Romanian nationality - was due to possible medical malpractice. And this adds to another complaint filed by the Workers' Commissions trade union due to lack of emergency personnel in this particular regional medical centre in Jaén.
