The General State Budget has destined 303 million euros to Extremadura, 60 million less that in 2016.
The main portion will go to infrastructure, with 183 million for the AVE project in the region. The representative of the Government in Extremadura is optimistic about the impact the General State Budget¿s project will have on the region, which is, she assures, to be the fourth region with the highest investment per capita, 280 euros, and the third with most portions going to railway.
The State's accounts for 2017 contemplate a total of 303 million euros in investment in Extremadura, which is 16.6 per cent lower with regard to 2016, although the Government reduces this difference to 13.5 million euros as there were portions of investment that were not executed in the last fiscal year.
The largest part of the investment goes to railway: 183 million euros for the electrification of the Talayuela-Cáceres and Badajoz-Mérida sections, which is why the representative of the Government, Cristina Herrera, notes that the finalisation of the Extremadura AVE won't be deferred, originally foreseen for 2020.
Herrera assesses, for the first time, that there be a long-term commitment to investments to complete the AVE line between Madrid and Extremadura. Most notable are the 54 million euros for the area of Agriculture and 38 million for Development.
