NATPE: A Successful Market for TVE
- NATPE 2015 has drawn to a close, with Televisión Española having been strongly represented in one of the most important markets for the Latin American audiovisual industry.
"Víctor Ros" made its debut at NATPE 2015 with notable success, heading the portfolio of products from Televisión Española and confirming the excellent results that the series is enjoying during its broadcast in Spain.
Important agreements are being secured with "Víctor Ros" for the series to be broadcast in countries such as France and Italy. "Victor Ros" centers around a police inspector from late 19th century Madrid who resolves a series of mysterious crimes using the scientific methods developed by Scotland Yard.
"Isabel" has consolidated its status during its third and final season as one of the best-selling Spanish series abroad. TVE's portfolio also includes various TV Movies that enhance the prestige enjoyed by Spanish fiction, featuring titles such as "Prim, the murder on turk street" and "Vicente Ferrer".
TVE has extended its presence throughout the majority of the OTT segments in the Latin American market and has reached a new agreement with Esquire NBC, which will once again show live broadcasts of the bullfighting events in Pamplona, Los Encierros de San Fermín, in 2015, broadcasts that achieved such excellent audience figures last year. These developments illustrate just how positive this market has been for Televisión Española.
Furthermore, the channel known as "Vive", the result of an agreement between TVE and WoraTv, will begin its free-to-air broadcasts in Costa Rica as of next March.
Televisión Española has enhanced its leading role within the contents and signals business by opening up a new distribution channel at NATPE by means of new platforms.
Thus, conversations have commenced for the incorporation of TVE into various new pay TV platforms, both in the United States and in Latin America, whilst NATPE has also provided an ideal opportunity for RTVE to strengthen its collaboration with its traditional channel distributors throughout the region.
The overall impression expressed by Rafael Bardem, TVE's Head of Content Sales, and María Jesús Gómez, Head of Channel Sales, was that TVE's attendance at the event was highly fruitful, with progress having been made with regard to various different agreements, within one of the most important markets in Latin America.
