The results of the latest archaeological dig ordered by the Cabildo at La Fortaleza, in the municipality of Santa Lucia de Tirajana, reveal that this site was occupied for 1,000 years from the 5th to the 15th centuries, making it the largest and longest-lived settlement on the island of Gran Canaria.
