The fire in the flour factory of Puebla de la Calzadao and the visit of the then Prince Juan Carlos to the canning industry of Montijo in 1959 are among the events captured by the camera of Sánchez Melara. Photojournalism was only a part of the professional talents that this Extremadura man, known as 'Visam', developed from the 1930s to 1966, when he died, still young.

Above all, he captured the urban and rural landscape of Extremadura in those decades, from scenes of peasant life to festivities marked by the National Catholicism of the period, and life in the newly created villages of the Badajoz Plan.
