Alejandro López started practising taekwondo when he was only 4 years old. He started competing at 6. Now eight, he has already won 21 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. He won his last in Castellón, taking gold in the Spanish championship.
Alejandro says that he practises taekwondo to defend himself, but he was quick to add that he also took it up to practise sport and make friends.
His teacher, Young Hwan Kin, remembers the first time when Alejandro came to the gym and wanted to leave crying.
Now, however, taekwondo is part of his life. So much so that this young boy from Badajoz already knows that he wants to practise the sport professionally in later life. He also says that he would like to be a police officer when he's older too.
