Spain is grappling with grief one week after the deadly train crash in Urda. This tragedy has further called the safety of the Spanish rail network into question and prompted the resignation of transport minister Óscar Puente. After suffering two major train accidents in less than a year, we discuss the state of the Spanish railway system with Francisco Badea, an engineering teacher at Nebrija University and an expert in railway certification.
In this week's broadcast, we also discuss alleged ill treatment in Spanish prisons, following a report by the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) which raised concerns about three detention centres in Andalucía. We speak about this to members of the CPT, the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) and the Andalusian Human Rights Association (APDHA).
