Picasso "Ventana abierta", an artistic vision brought to life by people suffering from mental illness

A very special exhibition is currently on show at Picasso's Museum-Birth House, located in Malaga. Under the title "Ventana abierta" (Open window), the exhibition marks the end of an interesting refurbishment project carried out through art therapy. The works on display were created by people with mental health problems.

Paco has been the soul of a project that conceives art as a powerful tool capable of changing people, and that is precisely why the aim of this workshop is so clear to him.

Amongst the artists are Ángela, who shares Picasso's passion for bullfighting. Alongside her, a further seven people suffering from mental illness have shared paintings and paintbrushes, become friends, and even started to build social relationships, which is something they had never had before. And even though their life projects were once taken away from them, art is now teaching them that there's always a second chance.
