According to Álex de la Iglesia, filming in Almería in 2002 was the "best¿ and the "most fun and exciting¿ moment of his life, and it was also the first time he worked as a producer and had "the feeling that he was making cinema".

De la Iglesia stated that while he was living in the village of Tabernas he met the specialists who still work in these spaces, "real people, who were not making anything up and had a real story".

The Almería Film Festival will award the Basque director today with the "Almería, Land of Cinema¿ Prize. It's the same award that the Italian actress Sophia Loren will receive this morning, putting the finishing touch to a week of cinema. Tonight, the RTVE Orchestra will give a concert at the Maestro Padilla Auditorium, where it will perform universal classics that have appeared on the big screen and film soundtracks.
