A scale model of Europe's biggest solar telescope is now in the Canary Islands

Europe's biggest ever solar telescope is planned for the Canary Islands, and a scale model can already be seen in the Elder Museum, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The telescope will be built in 2021 and will be used to study phenomena like sunspots and solar flares.

Visitors at the Elder Museum in Las Palmas can see a scale model of Europe's biggest solar telescope, which will be built in the Canary Islands. The project is led by the Canary Islands Institute of Astrophysics.

It will be 50 metres tall, with a 4-metre diameter. The project has a budget of 200 million euros.
