Blesa, the Caja Madrid banker condemned for the "black" credit card scandal, found dead

Miguel Blesa died this morning in a hunting estate in Villanueva del Rey, Córdoba province. It happened around 8.40 am, according to medical services. An employee found the body in the garage, with a rifle shot in the chest. Blesa, born in Linares, Jaén, was the chairman of Caja Madrid from 1996 to 2009.

A Córdoba judge has ordered the removal of the body of the former chairman of Caja Madrid, Miguel Blesa, which was found today in a Villanueva del Rey estate. It is being transferred to the Forensic Institute of Córdoba for an autopsy.

Sources close to the investigation explain that the judge ordered the removal of the body around 12.45, and after the appropriate procedures, Blesa's body is being transferred to the forensic department of Fuensanta cemetery, in the city of Cordoba, 70 kilometres from Villanueva del Rey.

The former chairman of Caja Madrid, Miguel Blesa, was found dead on an estate in Cordoba province, having been shot in the chest with a hunting rifle in an apparent suicide, according to investigation sources.

The corpse was found at eight in the morning, on an estate called Puerto del Toro in the town of Villanueva del Rey, Civil Guard agents and medical personnel who were called to the scene were only able to confirm the death.

Sources say that Blesa, who arrived at the estate about 2 am, had been having breakfast with a friend, the owner of a nearby hunting range that he frequented. He had left the table, saying he was going to move his car, which was in the garage.
