The National Health System indicates that the current replacement rate hinders the ability to cover leaves and absences in Primary Care

The adviser José María Vergeles stresses that the current replacement rate was only intended to cover retirements and deaths, which "hinders covering all the leaves that happen as well as creating new positions", he explained, after criticisms from the Extremaduran Medical Board for Primary Care (Comexap) on "overcrowding during appointments" because of leaves and absences that are not covered.

The Extremaduran Health advisor, José María Vergeles, suggests adding flexibility to the replacement rate as the main solution to the staff deficiencies in Primary Care, and says that he understands the complaints from the Medical Board, which criticises overcrowding during appointments and asks that leaves and absences be covered.

Vergeles alludes to the complaint from Comexap that there will be ashortage of MIR doctors to replace the 600 retirements taking place in the next 10 years, and calls upon waiting for the results of the agreement between the minister, Montoro, and the trade unions to add flexibility to that rate in the next three years.
