Holiday rental forbidden in touristic areas of the Canary Islands
Associations of businesses and self-employed workers, property owners, investors and town planners called today for the immediate regulation of holiday rentals in the Canary Islands, to revert its impact on the social and economic fabric, as well as for tax collection purposes.

Doris Borrego, president of Ascav, warned that the lack of regulation of the quality and services of holiday rentals and its prohibition in touristic areas is causing mass tourism in residential areas.
This is due to large investors and hoteliers buying "entire buildings" in residential areas to dedicate them to the "all included" strategy, under the cover of holiday housing and protected by a lack of regulation.
