UPA-UCE asks for the investigation to be limited to the external advisor who admits having stolen 400.000 euros

Juan Miguel Apolo was an external advisor to UPA-UCE and has confessed to the judge that he redirected 400.000 euros of the European funds allocated to agricultural consulting into his own account from 2008 to 2015. Lorenzo Ramos, general secretary of the agricultural union, emphasised that the confession exonerates the two leaders now in custody, Ignacio Huertas and Maximiano Alcón.

Juan Miguel Apolo created Servicios Integrales Extremeños. From there, he set up a system for funding UPA-UCE through consultancies to help farmers to access EU subsidies. Apollo admits that he stole 400.000 euros. But he clarifies that Ignacio Huertas and Maximiano Alcón knew about it. The directors of UPA-UCE vehemently deny this claim.
