RTVE presents its most succesfull productions at NATPE
Carlos, King Emperor, The Department of Time, Acacias 38 and Six Sisters are some of the new programs that RTVE will present at NATPE, to be held from January 19 to 21, 2016 in Miami.
Radio Televisión Española will attend NATPE 2016 with its best productions. From 19 to 21 January, RTVE will showcase in the Spanish Hall “Audiovisual from Spain,” its renewed portfolio, as well as its new range of international channels.
Our star product will be the series, Carlos, King Emperor. This new historical drama series presents the life of Charles of Habsburg from his arrival in Spain to be King. We will learn how the heir of the Holy Roman Empire grows as a statesman and becomes strong to respond to the threats he has to confront.
The series has been produced in collaboration with Diagonal TV, and its first chapter was released last September 7. It airs every Monday on primetime on La 1 of TVE with excellent ratings. It is directed by Oriol Ferrer, one of the directors of ‘Isabel,’ and features Salvador García and Jorge Torregrosa as directors of episodes.
The Department of Time directed by Marc Vigil, has received several awards since the release of its first season, such as the Ondas for the Best Spanish Series of the Year, the Critics’ Award at the FesTVal of Vitoria, the Best Drama Series 2015 and the Gold Panda Award for Best Director for Marc Vigil, among others.
Created by Pablo and Javier Olivares (Cliffhanger) and produced by TVE in collaboration with Onza Entertainment, it is currently shooting its second season, which will feature 13 episodes where the patrol will travel through time to solve new mistakes that could change the course of our History. El Cid, Cervantes or Napoleon are some the great historical figures they will meet on their travels.
‘Six Sisters’. A terrifically well performed drama that follows the life of the Silva sisters. After the serious accident suffered by their father, these upper class young women have to face a new, harsh reality and take over the family textile factory. A wonderful story of courage, struggle and false pretenses in the Madrid of 1913, full of love, humor and, above all, emotions.
Acacias 38 takes us back to 1899 to tell the story of a group of maids and the bourgeois families they work for. A tale about the rich and poor that reflects the coming together of two worlds in one place: a building located in a bourgeois neighborhood in a large Spanish city. Love, jealousy, passion, revenge, hatred and joy are the ingredients of Acacias 38, produced by TVE in collaboration with Boomerang TV.
It has achieved massive success in Italy, where it is aired under the title of Una vita: more than 2.5 million viewers and over a 20% share.
In addition to these productions, RTVE will present the rest of its portfolio, which includes series such as Isabel, Olmos y Robles and Víctor Ros, as well as TV movies such as The Spanish-English Lady, Closed Rooms and Teresa.
Besides its well-known international channels, TVE Internacional and 24 Horas, RTVE will present its new HD channel, STAR HD.
The STAR HD schedule will include the most successful RTVE dramas in Spain and in the countries where they have been sold, as well as its best entertainment shows, all with the highest standards of quality both in production and in broadcasting, under the HD standard.
After a period of testing, the STAR HD channel will begin its final broadcast on January 18th, just one day before the market opening. This new channel can be viewed in the Americas through the Galaxy 23 and Hispasat 1E satellites and its content include TVE’s best series, movies and entertainment shows.
The RTVE’s commercial team will be headed by Rafael Bardem, deputy director of Content Sales and by María Jesús Pérez, deputy director of Channel Sales.
