Podemos fechar 1954 como el año en que el rock’n’roll se establece como un nuevo género musical. Se bautiza gracias al programa radiofónico de Alan Freed y se populariza e irrumpe en listas gracias a Elvis Presley y, muy especialmente, a Bill Haley y sus Cometas. En poco más de un año surgieron artistas etiquetados como rock’n’roll desde distintos puntos de los Estados Unidos con claras diferencias en sus sonidos. Ya desde un primer momento el rock’n’roll se mostró ilimitable.
