English Language Broadcast   The negotiations for a post-Brexit Gibraltar 09/05/2024 30:19

It has been more than four years since Brexit and two years and a half since the negotiations between Spain and the UK about Gibraltar began. Gibraltar is a small region in the south of Spain, sovereignty of the United Kingdom since 1713. It has been a point of contention between Spain and the United Kingdom for a long time, especially after the inclussion of the territory in the list of Non-Self Governing territories of the United Nations. And after Brexit, when the entirety of the United Kingdom left the European Union, including the territory of Gibraltar, negotiations began to protect the interests of Spanish and British citizens in the area. To learn more about what is happening in Gibraltar and why the negotiations are taking so long, we spoke with Luis Rodrigo de Castro, international relations professor at the CEU San Pablo

And after that, we pivot to another story concerning internationals. In April, Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, announced the end of the "Golden Visa" was near. To learn more about what this means, we were joined by Emilio Ramirez, immigration lawyer and member of the Madrid bar association.
