After the news we feature the first installment of Alison Hughes's four-part mini-series on relations between Spain and the United States during the Cold War. In 1953, Spain and the United States signed an historic deal by which the U.S. installed strategic military bases in Spain and the Franco dictatorship gained international recognition and legitimacy.
