A Contra Blues are a blues and roots band from Barcelona who have just been in Madrid to play three gigs at La Coquette, Spain's oldest blues bar, located at the very heart of the Spanish capital and just around the corner and down the street from another temple of great music, the Royal Opera House. To date, A Contra Blues have released four albums, and Jonathan (lead vocals, guitar), Alberto (guitar, ukelele, backing vocals), Héctor (guitar, banjo, backing vocals), Joan (upright bass, backing vocals) and Nuria (drums, percussion, backing vocals) have been busy crisscrossing Europe this summer playing major blues festival after winning the 2014 European Blues Challenge, held in the Latvian capital of Riga.
