Today's program begins with a review of some of the news of interest here in Spain: the advance of the coronavirus in Europe and elsewhere as the number of cases in China is declining; the efforts among EU members to set a long-term Budget for 2021-2027 in the post-Brexit period, and the especially challenging situation facing farmers in Spain who depend on EU subsidies as the supermarket-distribution chains consume their earnings. Then, Justin Coe presents versions of Camille Saint-Saëns' "Introduction and rondó capriccioso for solo violin," a work inspired by the music of Spain and written for the Spanish violin virtuoso, Pablo Sarasate. To conclude, another Spanish virtuoso violinist, Leticia Moreno, performs the piece live, accompanied by the Spanish Radio and Television Orchestra, conducted by Adrian Leaper.
