Madrid's Teatro Real Opera House is alone among Europe's great theaters to face down the pandemic and continue its programming. Devoting resources, imagination and hard work, everyone at the theater has contributed to ensure the safety of the performers and the audience this season. If that weren't epic enough a challenge, this month the Teatro Real premiered the third part of its on-going annual installment of Richard Wagner's monumental Ring of Nibelung, Siegfried. Among the demands of Wagner's music is an expanded orchestra. Today's program includes the accounts of those people responsible for making this production possible: Joan Matabosch, the Real's artistic director, Pablo Heras-Casado, the award winning orchestra conductor, Andreas Schager, Austrian tenor for Siegfried, and Robert Carsen the stage director for this Siegfried.
