An alarm goes off inside The Ministry of Time. The Exterminating Angel, the secret society that is trying to destroy it and that also travels through time, has decided to attack the passageway at the time portal. The goal: to prevent one of the Ministry’s lead agents, Lola Mendieta, from returning from 1812, where she went to look for information on a possible attack against the Cadiz Cortes. Will you be able to figure out its Machiavellian plans and keep history intact? The life of a colleague is in your hands.

Fans of The Ministry of Time will again be able to feel like the stars of the award-winning TVE series thanks to a new immersive experience in which you will become one of the main protagonists in a race against the clock.

Fans of the series will be able to interact with some characters and cross the time portal

Once you take the plunge into virtual reality, you’ll be inevitably trapped in a plot against the clock that will test your investigative skills and your mettle. With help from Salvador and Irene, you will have to act fast to solve the case. You’ll be able to move around and pick up objects to try to decipher the enigma that will let you save Lola Mendieta.

“Ministry VR: Save the Time” is a unique virtual reality experience that lets you interact with some of the series’ usual characters and visit several of the sites in the Ministry with them, including the time portal, which you will have to cross to complete the mission.

The episode is about 10 minutes long and features elements and techniques from video games, and fun experiences like the Escape Rooms, to create an intense and challenging interactive experience.

Increased interactivity: users will be able to move and pick up objects to try to decipher the enigma

This new virtual episode is the next step after the premiere, one year ago, of “Time in Your Hands”, the Ministry of Time’s first VR experience, which put the RTVE series at the cutting edge of the virtual reality world.

This time around, the experience is more interactive. Beyond being able to go inside and look around the Ministry, users can move and pick up objects to solve the puzzles. “Save the Time” takes advantage of the latest technical advances made possible by virtual reality, including photogrammetry techniques, and the new devices that have appeared on the market this year.

How to watch it

You’ll be able to watch “Time in Your Hands" on the leading flagship virtual reality devices (PlayStationVR, Oculus and OculusHTC Vive), as well as on Samsung GEAR VR. You will have to download the “Ministerio VR: Salva el Tiempo” application from the usual stores for each device. It will not be accessible on just a mobile phone nor can it be watched on low-quality cardboard glasses.

The script for this episode was written by Pablo Lara and none other than Javier Olivares, one of the series’ creators who already had a cameo in the first virtual episode. It is directed by Pablo Lara and Rafa Pavón. In addition to your virtual self, also taking part in the story are actors Jaime Blanch, Cayetana Guillén Cuervo and Macarena García.

The episode is produced by RTVE, Onza Entertainment and Future Lighthouse, which is the studio that developed the experience for the first episode, for which it received international acclaim and various awards.

The first episode, “Time in Your Hands”, is also available on Samsung Gear VR. You can download the application from Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
