Suiza se apuntó al metal más oscuro y sucio en 1984 con el nacimiento de Celtic Frost, surgidos de las cenizas de Hellhammer. Tom G. Warrior lideraba una banda que está considerada fundamental para el black metal, el death y el doom. El trío tuvo unos años gloriosos (sus tres primeros álbumes son incontestables) y luego las diferencias y problemas hicieron el resto.
