This week's program reports on a decision by local authorities in England to nix a billboard advertising hamburgers that poked fun at Chelsea's Spanish soccer player Fernando Torres, the questioning behind closed doors in parliament of the head of Spanish intelligence over whether public money was spent on a woman whose friendship with King Juan Carlos has fueled talk of scandal and abdication, and a statement by the Bank of Spain saying there are no signs of capital flight from Spain as a result of developments in Cyprus. The music featured on the program is that of Baroque composer Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, a selection of whose "Rosary Sonatas" is being performed this evening at the chamber music hall of Madrid's National Auditorium. The musicians performing in Madrid are Daniel Sepec, Baroque violin, Hille Perl, viola da gamba, Lee Santana, archlute and theorbo, and Michael Behringer, harpsichord and organ. The recording we listen to is by the Spanish early music group Ars Organica: Javier Carrau plays a Baroque violin constructed in the 18th century, and Ignasi Jordà performs on an organ built in 1754 (20/03/13).
