MEGAMIX BRUTAL

DOCUMENTARIE / True Crime

3 x 45'

On September 3, 1998, record producer Ricardo Campoy was the victim of an assassination attempt orchestrated by his former partner, Miguel Degà. Two close friends who had gone from sharing family and dreams to hating each other irrevocably. How did they end up here?

Megamix Brutal is a three-part documentary series that tells the story of Max Music, a record label that was founded in the early 1980s, when the dictatorship gave way to democracy and nightclubs became the ideal leisure model. The story focuses on the friendship between its founders, two twenty-somethings passionate about dance music and determined to succeed at any cost. Ricardo Campoy and Miguel Degà are the protagonists of this adventure and, together with the first DJs to emerge in Spain, are responsible for turning the megamix, a musical subgenre built from snippets of songs, into a multimillion-dollar record product with series such as Max Mix and Máquina Total and artists such as David Lyme and Rebeca.

Megamix Brutal is also a reflection of our society through dance music. From the hedonistic and utopian parties of the 1980s and the massive raves of the 1990s to the television phenomena of the early 2000s. Three decades of parties and nightclubs that have marked the youth of millions of Spaniards.
