First International LGBTI Tourism Meeting in Torremolinos, Málaga

One million tourists who visited Andalusia this summer belonged to the LGTBI community. At a global scale, it is estimated that 10% of tourist movements corresponds to this segment. Since the 1960s, Torremolinos has been a symbol for gay tourism and from this Friday until Sunday, it will be hosting the first International LGBTI Tourism Meeting which brings together companies and tour operators who want to publicise their offer to attract this kind of tourism.

LGBTI tourism has become one of the most sought-after segments within the sector. Proof of this is the first international meeting that brings together of travel agents and tour operators from more than 20 countries in Europe, Asia and the Americas. LGTBI tourism is above all of quality tourism. The average daily expenditure per person is 113 euros against the average 67 euros spent by other general tourists.

Torremolinos has been a benchmark for years for this group with hotels fly the multicoloured flag. Now, more than 50 years have passed since Torremolinos entered the international map of gay tourism. This international meeting will return in two years.
