"Alas para la imagen", a book about the artistic use of butterfly wings

This is a unique publication, as it is the first book ever published about the art of butterfly wings. That is how it is presented by its author, the editor Pedro Tabernero. ¿Alas para la imagen¿ (Wings for images) includes the work of artists from the Central African Republic and Senegal and the texts from specialists on a craft which, according to them, is a way of life there with hardly any natural impact.

The pages of this book are made with ¿the most delicate matter of dreams¿ as explained by the veteran editor from Seville, known for his more-than-unique and very meticulous publications. This time, Pedro Tabernero shows us his first illustrated volume on the art of butterfly wings.

It is part of a series of illustrated volumes that was conceived after a trip to Senegal in which he discovered this art. A painting in a tourist shop, made with butterfly wings, led him to investigate and learn a technique that, he explains, comes from the Central African Republic, one of the poorest countries in the world. The majority the authors of these illustrations are from there. Five years of work for a book that also includes texts from specialists.
