Fifty people scammed in Jaén when looking for work at the French grape harvest

Nearly fifty people in Jaén have fallen victim of a scam offering fake contracts to work in the French grape harvest. They paid 85 euros for documentation and transport that was supposed to take them to the south of France. Early yesterday morning they waited for a bus that never came.

The alleged offender had offered work on an internet portal. He asked applicants for various documents and even to sign a blank contract written in French. He also asked them to deposit 85 euros in travel expenses to work near Montpellier.

Police are trying to identify the alleged fraudster; they have his name -probably false- his ID card -most probably fake- a telephone number, a recording of his voice and a bank account. Those affected claim that they have suffered damages other than the 85 euros: additional travel costs or rejecting other temporary work offers.
