An exhibition in Cádiz covers the history of Andalusia¿s leading news outlet, el "Diario de Cádiz"
In celebration of the hundred and fiftieth anniversary of the Diario de Cádiz, an exhibition has opened in the capital of Cádiz that covers the newspaper¿s history up to the present. It also shows the evolution of work processes at a news outlet and the art of journalism in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries.
The first edition of the Diario de Cádiz was printed on 16 June 1867. A century and a half later, its evolution can be seen in an exhibition called ¿Nuestra historia es Cádiz¿ (Our history is Cádiz). The exhibition shows the day-to-day business of the leading Andalusian news outlet and its journey throughout the last hundred and fifty years. From linotypes, moveable type, presses and typometers up to the digital universe of our era.
The exhibit brings together the history of Cádiz through the important events that covered front pages, the changes in advertising, the way of bringing products to the readers... It shows us the evolution of journalism in our country, the way it¿s done and the way it¿s illustrated, combining the image with the text, and how it survived the pressures of censorship. The exhibition can be seen until the end of the year in the Lithographic Museum located within the Puertas de Tierra de Cádiz .
