Last week, the president of the Tenerife Island Council, Carlos Alonso, asked the Superior Council of Sport and the Spanish Basketball Federation to ¿get involved¿ and finance a part of the World Cup, because the Canarian administrations alone are not going to cover the six and half million investment, while today, the president of the PP Tenerife has called for composure. According to Manuel Domínguez, his party is going to do everything it can, putting in extra work so that the Championship doesn¿t leave the island.
The president of the PP Tenerife has ¿emphatically¿ asked Carlos Alonso to rise to the occasion, and not let this opportunity for sport and tourism escape, because "on the island of Tenerife we cannot allow them to steal it from under us".
Natalia Mármol, adviser for PP Tenerife, has warned the government that sport is not just a photo opportunity and asks for a change of attitude, assuring that there is not a single person in the sport world of Tenerife that has said "no" to the Women¿s Basketball World Cup. ¿We¿ll see if Carlos Alonso figures out the reality on the island¿, concludes Natalia Mármol.
