The Mérida Theatre Festival comes to Lisbon proposing co-productions
The Director of the Mérida Theatre Festival is championing theatrical co-productions to advance the presence of Portuguese theatre in Extremadura. Until now, there has only been involvement from Portuguese companies or authors from the neighbouring country.
The Museum of Roman Theatre in Lisbon has accepted the role of presenter for the next edition of the Mérida Festival with a poster that includes seven theatre debuts and a flamenco and fado fusion concert that Portuguese fado singer Ana Moura will be involved in. The director of the Festival, Spain's longest-serving, and one of the most important representatives of the national scene, as well as the Prime Minister of Extremadura are all advocating for an increase in collaboration between Extremadura and Portugal through this cultural event. This would result in strengthening the "international" element of the Extremadura festival and even more so now that has been awarded with the seal of quality granted by the European Festival Association.
